On the Chinese servers of Genshin Impact, presumably in response to new regulations by the Chinese government, select characters will receive redesigns in the near future – Jean, Amber, Rosaria and Mona. Typically these redesigns are made to have the characters more conservatively dressed, showing less skin, even if you can argue that all characters were already adequately dressed. With this being forced upon all players, there was understandably a concern on how this may be reflected in the game’s international servers.
MiHoYo has used an announcement via their HoYoLAB website to confirm that the redesigns will not be forced upon players on the America, Europe and Asia servers. Instead, the partial redesigns will be released as ‘Alternate Outfits’ in the near future under the following names (subject to change):
- “Dandelion Knight” Jean (Anemo)
- “Gliding Champion” Amber (Pyro)
- “Thorny Benevolence” Rosaria (Cryo)
- “Astral Reflection” Mona (Hydro).
