Monsters Will Wear Many Faces in Alan Wake 2 – Announced Today

If you were convinced that Remedy Entertainment had an ulterior motive in developing a remastered release of Alan Wake, published a couple of months ago, your suspicions may have been right. Today, Remedy Entertainment announced during the 2021 Game Awards that development is underway on Alan Wake 2. This long-requested and long-awaited sequel is being developed with support of Epic Games Publishing, and is scheduled for release in 2023 for the PC (Exclusively via the Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Yes, they are making it native for next generation consoles!

While its foundations will likely be driven by its narrative, there will be a shift in genre with Alan Wake 2. This is slated to be the first game done by Remedy which is a Survival Horror game rather than a straight-out psychological horror game.

Additional information on Alan Wake 2 will be sparse until at least the middle of next year, with the studio confirming they will be going “dark” until the Summer of 2022 (Winter 2022 here in the Southern Hemisphere).
