While the ambitious sci-fi game Star Citizen is still in its Alpha phase of testing – which it has been for many years – developer Cloud Imperium Games provide several opportunities each year for backers and non-backers to dive into the ‘verse and check out what the ship development team has been working on – and perhaps part with some money while they are at it. Every November, one of the biggest events is the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo, its 2951 showcase canonically. This year the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo will be taking place from 19 November 2021 until 1 December 2021.
Players can now make their way to microTech, where over the next 13 days, a number of flight ready ships are available to tour, rent and experience for yourselves. This is on top of new vehicle announcements, a range of “special edition vehicle paints and in-game items” being made available. Although, expect everything outside of the minor digital goods to come with a real life price tag towards funding development of the ambitious project.
For those who like ground crafts, the newly announced offering from in-universe ship manufacturer Anvil Aerospace may be of interest. Priced at $71.50 USD (Warbond) or $88.00 USD (Regular), the Anvil Spartan is an armoured personnel carrier, designed to carry troops, cargo or VIPs over dubious terrain while mitigating any risk that may befall its inhabitants. For those who are not backers yet, Cloud Imperium Games has also confirmed a Free Fly period for Star Citizen throughout IAE 2951. This means you can create an account, download the alpha client and check out any of the ships on offer without pledging a cent.
