While only a few years have passed since anime fighting game Jump Force launched on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC, Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed that support will be discontinued for it in 2022. To be specific, Jump Force will no longer be available on digital storefronts from 8 February 2022, with online servers to completely shutdown in August 2022.
Developed by Spike Chunsoft, Jump Force features a range of characters from 16 Weekly Shonen Jump series including Bleach, Dragon Ball, My Hero Academia, Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and more. Reception to the game was ultimately mixed however, and given the range of 2D and 3D fighting games on the market, could very well have gotten lost in the crowd.
Bandai Namco Entertainment shared the below statement about the game’s closure, and reinforced that while digital sales will soon be discontinued and online support will also soon end, all offline content will be available for players to continue to enjoy.
Our sincere thanks goes out to all Jump Force players and fans for their support; but with all good things, they must come to an end.
