Star Citizen Ship ‘The Redeemer’ Showcased in Aegis Dynamics Hall During Invictus Flight Week

Invictus Flight week is well and truly underway in the ambitious crowdfunded online game Star Citizen, with developers Cloud Imperium Games today rolling out the second of multiple showcase floors in the New Babbage convention centre focusing on the ships from in-universe manufacturer Aegis Dynamics. With minimal moves from the company ship-wise in the last year, it was expected to be a rather eventless showing from the company… at least until backers walked in to find the Aegis Redeemer among those on display.

The Aegis Redeemer is a gunship focusing on firepower from missiles and turrets. It has a unique history within the game, designed initially during The Next Great Starship competition by a community team known as ‘Four Horsemen’. Although available in Star Citizen‘s Hangar Module for a long time, it has never been made flyable, nor did it receive anywhere near the development or polish to see usable by players until very recently.

While they were only able to provide a shell of the Aegis Redeemer, meaning players are unable to rent or even tour the craft, this is our first in-game look at the revised ship. This is likely to be the only time prior to launch that we get the chance to see the Aegis Redeemer up close, so be sure to check it out while you can.

The Aegis Redeemer is expected to finish its development cycle later this year, and be released Star Citizen Alpha 3.15 in Q3 2021.

In development by Cloud Imperium Games and their studios across North America and Europe, Star Citizen is being helmed by Wing Commander (1990s) creator Chris Roberts. The game has currently been in a long-term alpha phase with no confirmed release date. Despite this, the studio has raised more than $350 million USD through on-going crowdfunding. Please keep in mind should you decide to purchase towards Star Citizen, that this is an incomplete project and that you are pledging towards an extended crowdfunding campaign with no 100% guarantee of a finished product.
