A surprise to wake up to this morning, gaming company Sony Interactive Entertainment (Most known for their PlayStation brand) and communications platform Discord has confirmed a partnership has been formed between them.
For those unaware, Discord is a successful communications service for the PC and smart devices, which first went live in May 2015. Boasting more than 140 million users every month, it is most known for providing a range of text, audio and visual means of communications between individuals, small groups and entire channels of players. Given COVID-19, it has also proven to provide support for e-learning and general conversations between friends and family.
For those unaware, Discord is a successful communications service for PC and smart devices, which boasts more than 140 million users every month. Most known for supporting many gaming communities (although supports everything from e-learning to 1:1 communication), it provides a range of text, audio and visual forms of communications
It is too soon to know exactly what form this partnership will take, although integration of the communication platform with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 would be a safe bet.
