While the client has been available since last month’s launch of Final Fantasy XIV: Patch 5.5, Square Enix has today confirmed that the PlayStation 5 client of the MMORPG will leave its testing period on Tuesday 25 May 2021. This should not require any additional intervention on behalf of players already using the client, and appears to be more a formality than anything else.

From a glance at public feedback from the community, the client appears to have been well received by some, but does appear to have some performance issues around screen resolutions and some other nagging issues. Hopefully these are ironed out before the trial period ends, or if not, in the near future.
The PlayStation 5 version of Final Fantasy XIV contains a number of enhancements and features over the PlayStation 4 client including:
- Full 4K Resolution Support
- Improved Load Times
- High Resolution User Interface
- Support for the DualSense Controller’s Haptic Feedback
- New Trophies
