While the grand live events we expect around this time of year have not been able to go ahead due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cloud Imperium Games are able to push forward with digital Star Citizen events such as the annual Intergalactic Aerospace Expo. From now until 2 December 2020, a free fly event will be held which allows all gamers (whether they have pledged towards a subscription or not) to log into the game and explore the verse in an Origin 100i Starter Ship.
But it wouldn’t be an IAE event with lots of ship rentals. Every day over this period, players are encouraged to head to the newly unveiled Tobin Expo Centre on New Babbage, Microtech. Here, players will be able to freely rent a range of ships from a variety of ship manufacturers, in addition to catching a glimpse at in-development ships. This is arguably a much nicer convention hall than the one in Area18, allowing ships to be more spaced out with much better lighting.
Below is the current IAE 2950 schedule, which will shuffle through each of the manufacturers until focusing in on the top four “Best in Show” crafts.
