Whether you are a returning player of Dragon Quest XI and want to test whether its improvements justify a second purchase, or an Xbox One exclusive gamer and want to see whether the Japanese RPG suits your gameplay style – you may want to head to the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace or Steam. Square Enix has in recent days released a demo version of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
The demo offers an estimated ten hours of content starting at the opening of the game, letting players take their first steps in the shoes of the Luminary, a young man who discovers a destiny that will change his life forever.
The demo showcases new features and quality of life improvements specific to the Definitive Edition, including the ability to speed up battles, Japanese and English audio, a symphonic soundtrack and a photography mode. Those who buy the full game when it releases on 4 December 2020, will be able to take advantage of even more improvements from the original PlayStation 4 / PC release, including new character stories, an improved crafting system, and the option to play the entire game like a 2D classic Dragon Quest instalment.
Progress from the demo can be carried over to the full game. As an added bonus, players who complete the main scenario of the demo will receive three “Seed of Skill,” which grant players an extra skill point when consumed and can be used either in the demo or upon continuing their save progress in the full game.
