In November 2010, Spike Chunsoft released the first instalment in the Danganronpa video game franchise onto the PlayStation Portable in Japan. Since the original release almost ten years ago, millions of fans in both Eastern and Western video game markets have experienced Kazutaka Kodaka’s murder-mystery narratives about incredibly talented high school students drawn into death games instigated by a sadistic teddy bear.
While no specifics have been provided yet, developer and publisher Spike Chunsoft has confirmed that they are “thrilled to offer more Danganronpa content” soon, and that fans should “stay tuned for future announcements!”
Four main games in the Danganronpa universe have been released to date – Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony and spin-off game Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls. The franchise has been further developed through three TV anime seasons and a number of manga and light novels.
