Minecraft Partners Up With UN Development Programme to Support COVID-19 Best Practice 1

Minecraft will be a decade old next year. However, its appeal with audiences of all ages and demographics continues to hold firm. Especially given its reach with a younger demographic, it is therefore fitting that the Minecraft team have partnered up with the UN Development Programme to develop several public service announcements to encourage everyone to #BLOCKCOVID19 so we can face #TomorrowTogether.

Over the next week, three PSA’s such as the one above will be shared across all official Minecraft social media channels. These will share messaging around proper handwashing, social distancing and staying at home if you are feeling unwell; featuring Minecraft mascots encouraging players to do their part in flattening the curve.

So if you suddenly come across a Creeper asking you to wash your hands, don’t worry: their agenda has not permanently changed. In the game, they still want nothing more than to get cozy with you and proceed to blow up. But in our social channels, and for the time being, they also want to help put an end to the pandemic.
