First Details Shared on Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.2: Echoes of a Fallen Star 1
Could we be seeing Thunder Plains from Final Fantasy X appearing as a venue for new Edenscape content?

New details have been shared around upcoming Patch 5.2 for Final Fantasy XIV Online, announced during the 56th Letter from the Producer Livestream hosted by Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida and other members of the game’s community and development team.

Titled Final Fantasy XIV: Echoes of a Fallen Star, this will be the second major post-release patch for expansion Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, and will bring an assortment of new content and improvements including:

  • A continuation of the main scenario quest, as the Warrior of Darkness and fellow Scions of the Seventh Dawn continue uncovering the mysteries of The First.
  • The start of the Equipment Enhancement quest series which will continue through all the Shadowbringers patches. While details are limited, this new and powerful equipment will be unlocked as players learn more about the Hrothgar homeland, the Bozja Citadel
  • New Standard and Extreme difficulty trial – Ruby Weapon
  • New set of Eden’s Verse raids at both normal and savage difficulty. As per the image above, it appears that Thunder Plains from Final Fantasy X will be making an appearance in this content.
  • Next update to the Ishgardian Restoration system, which will see improvements made to Diadem, high-level crafting challenges, a new ranking system and more.
  • A new Beast Tribe Quest – The Qitari – which is geared towards Disciples of the Land classes.
  • One new dungeon – Anamnesis Anyder
  • A wealth of other changes and additions which will be announced in the lead-up to its release.

At the moment, Final Fantasy XIV: Echoes of a Fallen Star is due to go live on game servers sometime in February 2020. While you do not need the newest expansion to access this patch, much of the content will require you to own Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers.
