Dualshock 4 Controller to Be Expanded With Back Button Attachment in 2020

-

2020 may be the year of the next-generation PlayStation 5, but Sony Interactive Entertainment have at least one more expansion for their PlayStation 4 console – or rather its Dualshock 4 controller – to come next year. To launch on 14 February 2020 at a price of $49.95 AUD, a Back Button Attachment has been announced.

According to Sony Interactive Entertainment, this attachment will “elevate” players gameplay by “delivering more versatility and performance, while maintaining the comfort and feel of the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller“.

It will come with two programmable buttons to help players utilise more of their hand to shorten response times and give more flexibility in competitive gameplay. In total, each button can map one of sixteen different actions including triangle, circle, R1 and R2. For a little bit of versatility, three profiles containing different program sets can be switched between with ease – allowing for the back buttons to be used for different purposes within the same game session.

While you are unlikely to be holding your controller in reverse to see it during normal gameplay, the integrated OLED display will provide real time information around each button assignment.

According to Sony Interactive Entertainment, this attachment has been “tested and approved for all of your favourite PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR titles”
