I wouldn’t say this is much of a surprise given that Final Fantasy fans have been waiting approximately a decade for the game since it was first announced as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but Square Enix have reported strong sale stats for Final Fantasy XV.
Since launching at the end of November 2016, Square Enix confirmed on 11 January 2017 (Australian Time) that the “shipment and digital sales” for the long-awaited JRPG have exceeded six million units. This includes a reported five million units on Day One alone.
Currently available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Square Enix are continuing their post-launch support for the game into the near future. This includes not only free and paid holiday packs which are now available for download, but also post-launch downloadable content which will see players step into the shoes of Noctis’ comrades.
