Despite arguably being the most iconic personality of the PlayStation 1, many years have passed since Crash Bandicoot received a video game of his own. Unfortunately this announcement doesn’t herald in a new instalment of Crash games – although it does provide a very nostalgia-inducing alternative.
During PlayStation Experience (PSX) last weekend, Activision announced their ongoing work to release the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy. Developed by Vicarious Visions, this collection will feature the three original Crash Bandicoot games – Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. While this collection will include the three games, they are being developed from the ground-up, with Activision claiming it will come with “brand new lighting, animations, environments and recreated cinematics – all in stunning “N. Hanced Fur-K” and PS4 Pro HD”.
Other features being introduced in the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy including full analog stick support, a unified save system and unified checkpoint system, improved bonus levels and time trials, a fully-remastered soundtrack (complete with didgeridoos, xylophones and thumpin’ bass lines) and newly recorded dialogue from some familiar VA’s. In terms of voice acting, some of the returning voice cast members are Jess Harnell and Lex Lang.
Developed exclusively for the PlayStation 4 (with PS4 Pro support), Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is set to launch sometime in 2017.
