Seeking to present a game which delivers “frenetic gunplay” and “larger than life gory visuals” – Tripwire Interactive, Deep Silver and Iceberg Interactive have announced that their co-op sci-fi horror first-person shooter game, Killing Floor 2, is now available globally on the PC and PlayStation 4. For those with 4K televisions and are after even better visuals, the game also supports the PlayStation 4 Pro’s enhanced capabilities.
Serving as a successor to the PC-exclusive Killing Floor, the release of Killing Floor 2 follows what the publishers have deemed an “extremely successful” time during its Steam Early Access phase. For those brand new to the game, you will be tasked with exploring continental Europe which has been paralysed by a major outbreak. In the main missions you can do so as either a lone wolf, or cooperatively with up to five other players. There is also a 12-player PvP mode on offer, where two teams take turns playing ‘Humans vs. Zeds’ in sets of short patches.
Visually, Killing Floor 2 is expected to offer lots of visceral gore and brutal melee combat, with combat against enemies (known as Zed) often leading to entrails flying, severed limbs and copious amounts of blood being splattered around the arena.
For those with a PlayStation 4 Pro, the development team seek to offer the following perks compared to the standard PlayStation 4:
- 1800p checkboard rendering on 4K TV (3200×1800) optimized for 4K TVs
- Effectively supersampling and increased fps on HDTV
- Using additional memory to increase texture resolution to “Ultra Textures”

We’ve poured our heart and soul into perfecting KILLING FLOOR 2, seeing all of the community feedback from the Early Access phase was invaluable, and to see the game’s full release today is truly overwhelming. Developed by Tripwire Interactive and published by Deep Silver and Iceberg Interactive, Killing Floor 2 is now available for purchase on the PC and PlayStation 4. As you might have already guessed, the Australian Classifications Board has classified this game as R18+.
Storyline
In KILLING FLOOR 2, players descend into continental Europe where the outbreak caused by Horzine Biotech’s failed experiment has quickly spread and gained unstoppable momentum, essentially paralyzing the European Union— Just one month after the events in the original KILLING FLOOR, the specimen clones are everywhere and civilization is in disarray; communications have failed, governments have collapsed, and military forces have been systematically eradicated. The people of Europe know survival and self-preservation too well and lucky survivors have gone into hiding.
