While there are a handful of virtual reality devices on the market right now, it seems like Sony Interactive Entertainment’s upcoming launch of the PlayStation VR is driving even more major publishers/developers into the market. In the case of Ubisoft, the company are looking at releasing not one but three new VR games onto the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive this year. With each providing gamers an opportunity to use their virtual reality devices in different ways, Ubisoft’s first VR lineup includes:
Eagle Flight – Developed by FunHouse
Eagle Flight sends players to the skies of Paris where as an eagle they will soar over the historic city and its iconic landmarks. Playable in single player and in the heart-pumping multiplayer “Capture the Prey” mode, Eagle Flight seeks to give players the sensation and exhilaration of flight.
Eagle Flight will be available first on the Oculus Rift from October 18th. It will then launch on the PlayStation VR a couple of weeks later on November 8th, and the HTC Vive just in time for Christmas on December 20th.
Star Trek: Bridge Crew by Red Storm Entertainment
Unveiled at E3 2016, Star Trek: Bridge Crew is for fans of the sci-fi series who wish to see the series’ universe through their eyes. In this game, players will be beamed into the action of a Starfleet as a member of the Federation, exploring space with a crew or solo as a Captain.
Designed exclusively for VR platforms, Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be available on all three platforms from November 25 2016.
Werewolves Within by Red Storm Entertainment
First announced by Ubisoft when the PlayStation VR release date was first confirmed, Werewolves Within is a social game which will be available on all three VR platforms from December 6th 2016.
Set in the medieval village of Gallowston, players must uncover the werewolves which have been torturing the townsfolk through fast-paced games with five to eight players. In one game you could be a villager pleading your case for innocence, and the next you could be the werewolf who is lying their way to win.
