A New Chapter of the Star Ocean Franchise Begins in North America

There has been quite some time since Star Ocean: The Last Hope launched on the Xbox 360 in 2009, and it wasn’t even clear if a sequel would ever be made. But after more than half a decade of waiting, a successor has finally been released on the PlayStation 4: Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness. Those interested in picking up this long-awaited RPG can now do so in North America. A PAL region release (Including AU/NZ) will follow in the next couple of days.

Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness takes place somewhere in the middle of the Star Ocean chronology, placed between Star Ocean: The Second Story and Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. It takes place centuries after humans have left Earth and headed into the distant Faykreed star system. It is here where swordsman Fidel Camuze and his childhood friend, Miki Sauvester, set out to protect their village from being swallowed in the tides of civil unrest. Together with a diverse group of companions, Fidel and Miki are tasked with protecting the Kingdom of Resulia while also being drawn into battle with outside forces.

Expect a review of Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness on The Otaku’s Study very soon! You can read my (very old) reviews of Star Ocean 3 and Star Ocean 4 HERE and HERE.
