ACE Team Return for More Boulder Smashing Fun with Rock of Ages II

Several years have passed since ACE Team first collaborated with ATLUS USA to launch Rock of Ages. The concept behind this game was fairly simple, albeit one which was presented with quite a lot of fair. As a player you were required to use tower defense mechanics to defend your base from the onslaught of the enemy teams boulder being rolled down a hill. Simultaneously, you are required to take our your opponents base by doing the same thing – rolling a big boulder down a hill.

ACE Team have since moved on to work with other games including Deadly Tower of Monsters, Abyss Odyssey and Zeno Clash II. But it seems like the allure of a big boulder couldn’t keep them away from Rock of Ages forever. Therefore, ACE Team and ATLUS USA have recently confirmed that work is currently underway on Rock of Ages II: Bigger and Boulder for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It will once again be a digital-exclusive release.

In Bigger and Boulder, Atlas, the Greek God of holding up really heavy things, needs some help recovering the celestial sphere that he might have misplaced. Because all the rulers throughout historical eras are getting in his way, you are tasked with smashing down gates. The conquerors in each game are representative of the different periods of Art History, from Early Renaissance to Late Gothic. As before, each are presented in the series’ Pythonesque, cut-out animation style.

Rock of Ages II seeks to offer a greater emphasis on co-op and competitive player. It is now possible for four players to strategically plan their way to victory. There’s also been a complete revamp of how resources are accrued in the game, so players will not just have to defend their own castles, but resource nodes as well. This is in addition to the inclusion of new units and improved physics.

Rock of Ages II: Bigger and Boulder will be available digitally on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC platforms later this year. The game will also be playable at E3 2016 should you be in attendance.
