Similar to what is offered by PlayStation and their “PlayStation Plus” membership, having a Gold subscription for the Xbox service means more than just getting access to online play and a couple of features. Every month, subscribers gain access to two Xbox One and two Xbox 360 games completely free – with their value slightly boosted now that Microsoft are more rigorously pushing ahead with their Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program.
Similar to previous months, each game available during May will not be available during the entire month. Instead, two games will be available in each half – one set available from the 1st to 15th, and the other available from the 16th to 31st.
In the first half of May, gamers will be able to dive into the tower defense game Defense Grid 2 (Xbox One) developed by Hidden Path Entertainment and 505 Games, and Codemasters’ high-speed racer GRID 2 (Xbox 360). In the latter half, it is Halloween a little bit early with the availability of Costume Quest 2 (Xbox One) from Double Fine Productions and Majesco, and EA’s puzzle classic Peggle (Xbox 360). Both GRID 2 and Peggle are supported on the Xbox One via backwards compatibility, meaning you don’t even need an Xbox 360 to enjoy them.
