Let me take you back to October 2013. It was the year that the new consoles were set to arrive on shelves, and during that years EB Games Expo, both Sony Computer Entertainment and Microsoft had their new consoles on display. Rather than queue for potentially hours to play small snippets of a video game, I delegated extra time to touring the indie game section of the exhibition hall – and got to play some really intriguing games on a plethora of consoles. One development team presenting that day was the Sydney-based studio Nnooo, who with their PlayStation 4 development unit, were presenting an early build of Blast ‘Em Bunnies. I wrote up my experiences with the game HERE, but in my opinion even today, it served as a fantastic welcome to what is now the current generation of gaming.
However, up until a few hours ago, there has been just one problem… Blast ‘Em Bunnies hasn’t been released.
Finally this evening, Nnooo have announced that their endless shooter Blast ‘Em Bunnies is scheduled to launch in Early-March 2016 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One and Nintendo 3DS. To be more specific, the release dates are as follows:
- March 8 – PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in the Americas
- March 9 – PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Europe, UK, Australia and New Zealand
- March 10 – Nintendo 3DS in the Americas, Europe, UK, Australia and New Zealand
- March 11 – Xbox One in the Americas, Europe, UK, Australia and New Zealand
Blast ‘Em Bunnies is set to be available at a budget price of US$4.99 and €4.99, with the price differing slightly depending on your local currency. They are also set to release a small selection of add-on content including:
- 5x Arena Packs: US$/€ 1.99 each. Each one contains a new arena, day/night system and 3 new music tracks
- 5x Skin Packs: US$/€ 2.99 each. Each one contains 21 new skins (3 for each bunny type)
- 3x Permanent Multipliers: US$/€ Free to 9.99. The Multipliers cumulatively increase how many coins you collect when you shoot a coin
- 4x Weapon Unlocks: US$/€ 2.99 to 4.99. For those who don’t want to play the game to unlock everything!
Blast ‘Em Bunnies pits you as a cute, cartoon bunny called Bang Bang who must defend your rabbit burrow, against an onslaught of evil bunnies. These bunnies have captured your offspring and one of them, the evil Throatslitter, is holding them hostage. Just how long can you and your little ‘uns survive? Grab your carrot rifle, watermelon machine gun, turnip mortar or runner bean laser and take them down! Shoot coins to collect them and spend them on new weapons, upgrades and ammo including sticky raspberries, heat seeking chilli seeds, shredding leek lasers or bouncing, splitting, exploding pumpkin bombs.

It has been a real labour of love to ensure we release across such a wide range of machines at the same time across the world. We spent a lot of time deciding on the best price and combination for users and feel that by releasing the base game for a low price and allowing fans to customise their experience with add-on content we are giving every user great value for money. We hope everyone loves the unique weapons and ammo types; the cool, distinct arenas with their unique art and sound tracks; and the different enemy bunny skins with their fun, silly or scary looks!
