When it comes to characters from side-scrolling platform games from decades past, Sega is most known for Sonic the Hedgehog whilst Nintendo have their renown plumbers Mario & Luigi. Ubisoft on the other hand have Rayman – a character who I had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with during my early days in the video game industry. Rayman is celebrating his 20th birthday, having managed to sell 28 million units for Ubisoft across a range of 2D and 3D platforming games in this time.
To mark this major milestone in the Rayman franchises history, Ubisoft have announced that a new title known as Rayman Adventures will launch on mobile platforms starting December 3rd 2015. If you have an Apple TV however, you can pick up the game right now.
In this game, Rayman will be joined by new companions known as the ‘Incrediballs’. As you can see in the July 2015 trailer below, this seems to be a release comparable to other recent Ubisoft mobile titles. It is also built off the UbiArt Framework.
Yves Guillemot | CEO of Ubisoft
Rayman is one of Ubisoft’s most iconic and beloved characters, and he is still going strong 20 years after his creation. That is a testament to our teams’ expertise and passion, and our ability to take the Rayman franchise in exciting new directions. As a fan of Rayman from Day one, it’s always an exciting and special moment for me when we welcome a new installment in the series. I’m looking forward to Rayman fans getting their hands on Rayman Adventures and to creating more adventures and fun with him in the years to come.
