When it comes to Koei Tecmo / Omega Force’s Dynasty Warriors franchise, I will admit a certain soft spot for its Empires editions. Although these games focus less on presenting a structured storyline, it instead provides players with an opportunity to create multiple custom characters (or work with original characters) and forge their own path towards unifying China. The last time that the Samurai Warriors series received an Empires edition was nine years ago with Samurai Warriors 2 Empires on the PlayStation 2.
Koei Tecmo have today announced that, following their work on Samurai Warriors 4, that Samurai Warriors 4 Empires is now in development. Although details are currently limited, this edition plans to provide “much improved battle gameplay”, an “expanded intuitive governing system” and work to explore “the effects of building in-depth relationships and alliances”.
Samurai Warriors 4 Empires is set to receive a physical release on the PlayStation 4 and digital release on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. The release date is currently set at March 11th 2016. Expect to hear more information on this title in the coming weeks.
