Although more details are set to be announced over the coming weeks, Electronic Arts have confirmed they will be offering a beta test for their upcoming multiplatform release of Star Wars Battlefront.

Described as a “technical test”, this beta is set to begin in early October 2015 on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gaming platforms. What we do currently know is that the test will feature three game modes in total:

Walker Assault on Hoth: A 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Revels and the Empire. This mode will also grant players a chance to play as two of the franchise’s more iconic characters – Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.

Survival Mission on Tatooine: A mode which involves you and a rebel friend fighting back waves of imperial forces.

Drop Zone: A previously unannounced mode that is set to be detailed in the weeks ahead.

Electronic Arts have also confirmed that they will be offering the Star Wars Battlefront Companion during the beta test period. Available via the game’s official website, this will grant access to a number of features including the strategic card game ‘Base Command’, the ability to check game stats / progression, customise load-outs/appearances and more. When the game launches fully on November 19, the companion app will be available both online and on both iOS and Android devices.
