Star Citizen Social Module Alpha Version Goes Live for Every Backer

While I feel sorry for someone who received their access to the Public Test Universe only yesterday and spent over 30GB of bandwidth on the Public Test Universe client for only a day’s head start, Cloud Imperium Games have today confirmed that they have met one of their alpha milestones with a few days to spare. During Gamescom 2015, Chris Roberts announced an ambitious alpha release schedule for Star Citizen. One of these goals was to launch their first alpha (albeit functionality limited) version of the social module by the end of this month. As of today, all backers are able to access the social module without needing Alpha Access or an additional Pass.

While there are plans to expand what is on offer in this module over the coming months, this initial version (Introduced in Star Citizen v 1.2) will allow players to explore the ArcCorp hub area alongside other players. This version also provides access to a chat tool (Available using F12) and a first look at the augmented reality display system (Available using F2). To gain access to ArcCorp, all you need to do is access the elevator in your hangar and enter the code A01. For all bar the more expensive Industrial Hangar, the elevator can be found behind the location you spawn at when loading up the hangar module.

For more information on CIG’s upcoming plans for the Social Module, you can read a detailed article by Tony Zurovec via the official Star Citizen website. Having met this milestone, here’s hoping that Cloud Imperium Games will be able to provide players access to the Star Marine (FPS) module by the end of next month.

To end this article, Cloud Imperium Games have also shared a Landing Zone preview video for Nyx – which will quite likely be the next hub to be available in Star Citizen. You can find this video either below or in the article linked above.
