If there is one particular genre that the Wii U seems to really be lacking compared to other consoles on the market, it is the variety of RPG’s that are available for the platform. Fortunately the wait for a new major RPG shouldn’t be too far away, with Xenoblade Chronicles X launching in Japan from April 2015 (With an international release to hopefully follow).
Monolith Soft proved to us with their Wii release of Xenoblade Chronicles that they could take some of the limitations found in Nintendo’s consoles compared to its generational competition and still deliver a remarkable RPG experience that can star amongst other AAA titles in the market. While sneak peeks have slowly trickled out since the title was first announced, we have finally had an opportunity to take a proper look at what the development team have been working on these last few years.
Nintendo recently held a livestream which heavily featured Xenoblade Chronicles X, providing us a 24-minute look into the open world environments which players will be able to wander and fight through upon launch with their team of party members or fellow gamers (Through 4-player cooperative multiplayer). At this moment the video is only available in Japanese (As this was a Japanese livestream), but there are also storyline segments and other moments of dialogue spread throughout its runtime.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is set for release in Japan on April 29th 2015 through digital and retail, with the digital edition to be downloadable through pre-load prior to the game’s release. This JRPG has been confirmed for an international release in 2015, however Nintendo have yet to provide a more specific date.
