First The Sims 4 Expansion Announced as Get to Work

-

Electronic Arts and Maxis have announced that their first expansion pack for The Sims 4 has been titled The Sims 4: Get to Work. Unlike the previous “Outdoor Retreat” game pack, this will be a fully functional expansion pack which provides new major gaming experiences upon what was originally provided in the 2014 base game.

The Sims 4: Get to Work contains features that were introduced in The Sims 2: Open for Business and The Sims 3: Generations. Although it is unclear how many careers will be open this way, this pack will allow players to take advantage of active careers which will have them leading their Sims more closely through their jobs. Three examples provided include Doctor, Detective and Scientist – all three being traditional The Sims career paths with plenty of gameplay potential.

It will also be possible to create a variety of retail businesses including bakeries, clothing boutiques, art galleries, bookstores and more. Given that The Sims 4 provides a pseudo open world with a very limited number of lots compared to previous games, I am eager to see how the world structure will facilitate a broad number of businesses. Finally, they have also confirmed that at least two new skills will be added to the mix which will be related with specific retail businesses: Photography and Baking.

Oh… and Aliens. Can’t forget about them!

The Sims 4: Get to Work is currently priced at $49.99, and will be available at an unspecified date in April 2015. As with all previous expansion packs for every The Sims release to date, you are required to own the base game to play The Sims 4: Get to Work.
