The World Ends with You (Also known as Subarashiki Kono Sekai, It’s a Wonderful World or すばらしきこのせかい) is a Square Enix published action RPG that has been praised for its stellar soundtrack, concept and gameplay elements. While Square Enix have only released an iOS port of the game since the franchise was launched on the Nintendo DS in 2007, the characters and music have occasionally popped up in other games – most notably in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
The game has been confirmed to be making a guest appearance in the rhythm game Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, with two of its songs joining the downloadable tracklist this week in Japan. A full list of songs available this week in Japan can be found below:
Battle Music Sequences
- Twister (The World Ends with You)
- Liberi Fatali (Final Fantasy VIII)
- The Last Battle (Romancing SaGa 3)
- World Revolution (Chrono Trigger)
Field Music Sequences
- Calling (The World Ends with You)
- Wind Scene (Chrono Trigger)
While this may not be the sequel that some fans have long been waiting for, it does grant some small opportunity to enjoy two tracks from the game in a different context. To date, Square Enix have not announced any plans to distribute any of the six songs above in international markets. However, as they have begun the international distribution of new DLC content in recent weeks, it is likely that we will see these tracks hit the Nintendo eShop sooner rather than later.
