PlayStation TV Launches in Australia

Several weeks after the new micro-console launched in North America, the PlayStation TV has finally become available on store shelves in Australia. Priced at $149.95, this small device allows gamers to play their PS Vita games on the big screen, and steam PlayStation 4 games to other televisions in the house (over the internet).

Game support is not extensive however, and any PlayStation Vita games that makes heavy use of the touchpad may not be playable on the PlayStation TV. However quite a few PSP and PS One classics do, so it is possible to play Persona 3 Portable on the big screen for example.

I picked up myself one of these yesterday morning, and will have a review of it up shortly.

  1. I managed to get my copy yesterday morning as well at my local EB Games! I also did an unboxing video of it as well on my channel! So far, I managed to get Sword Art Online Hollow Fragment running for the PS TV, Muramasa Rebirth, Demon Gaze (soon Akiba’s Trip I hope) and several others. The only con is that it cannot run Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth 1 (the game doesn’t use any touchscreen or rear pad options!) or Producing Perfection! (they should provide touchscreen/rearscreen emulation so that way it makes more Vita games playable). However, let’s hope for a patch update where they will add more features and titles for the PS TV to be playable!
