Continuing the not-so-subtle attempts at torturing gamers through continual attempts at destroying their virtual counterparts in the world of Drangleic, From Software and Bandai Namco Games have confirmed upcoming plans for a new Dark Souls II expansion titled Scholar of the First Sin.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will add brand new game content to the original game including an expanded story featuring additional in-game events / NPC characters, deadlier enemies and assorted gameplay improvements. For release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in addition to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, this will be the first time that From Software’s “Souls” franchise has been released in the current-generation market.

A major Version 1.10 update has been confirmed for Dark Souls II next year as well, which will add many additions to the base game that are non-next-gen exclusive. Players who own Dark Souls II will not have to pay a cent to access any features unlocked. Purchasing Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin on last generation consoles / PC however will provide access to all three DLC missions (Crown Of The Sunken King, Crown Of The Old Iron King, and Crown Of The Ivory King), so depending on the cost this bundle may still be worth its price. Alternatively, buying on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One or DirectX11 PC’s will provide enhanced graphics and several unspecified “exclusive enhancements”.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin is set for release starting April 2nd 2015 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
