Star Citizen Hits $54 Million Stretch Goal Target

Continuing to hold its position as one of the most successful crowdfunded games of all time, Cloud Imperium Games’ Star Citizen has hit its $54 Million ($54,000,000 – not a typo) stretch goal and begun its way towards the next one.

This means that the following new feature will be incorporated into the base game for everyone to enjoy upon the full launch of Planetside mode:

More Detailed AI Activities – we’ll add ten distinct types of AI character roles on planetside environments! At $54 million, this includes Bartender, Doctor, Entertainer, Nurse, Sanitation Worker, Security Guard, Shopper, Tourist, Vagrant and Vandal. Future AI roles will be added with future stretch goals! Each additional ‘class’ of character will be fully expressive and have a role to play in Star Citizen’s planetside interaction AND the game’s greater economy.

While the $55 Million stretch goal has yet to be confirmed, Chris Roberts has indicated that it will potentially involve a series of ship components – one of which all backers prior to hitting this recent milestone will be given for free.
