Back when the Gameboy Advance dominated the portable gaming market, I was fortunate enough to own (what I consider to be) an awesome transparent (Glacier) model of the console, which to me at the time was almost as interesting as the games themselves. Many years down the road, Nintendo have decided to replicate the transparent look with their 2DS console… which in my opinion looks forgettable – much like how the 2DS could be with Nintendo’s upcoming Australian launch of the New Nintendo 3DS.
The two new 2DS designs will be launched shortly after Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, as part of two new bundles tying in with the games and their respective colours. Available at a price of $179.95 AUD, the Nintendo 2DS Transparent Red + Pokémon Omega Ruby bundle will include the Transparent Red console and a copy of the game pre-installed on a 4GB SD Card. The Nintendo 2DS Transparent Blue + Pokémon Alpha Sapphire pretty much offers the same, albeit with a Transparent Blue console. It is not possible to mix and match colours as part of a bundle.
Both will be launched on December 4th 2014, almost two weeks after both games launch on the console. The question is… will kids want to wait an extra two weeks to have their parents pick up the bundle?
