Today is a big day for RPG fans in Australia, with Bandai Namco not only launching the digital-exclusive Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, but also Tales of Xillia 2 on the PlayStation 3.
While featuring all the playable characters from the first game and two familiar faces promoted to party members, Tales of Xillia 2 follows two brand new protagonists – Ludger Kresnik and Elle Marta. After events that see the pair joined together, the two search for the Land of Caanan which is believed to grant wishes to whomever reaches it first.
Tales of Xillia 2 focuses its story theme around the concept of “choice”, which is also expressed heavily in the game’s overall gameplay mechanics. Throughout Ludger’s journey the player will be able to decide how he reacts to various characters and situations (and making him a silent protagonist in the process). The outcome of the story will be depending on each of the player’s choices, with multiple endings available.
While stocks last, Bandai Namco have released a special “Day One” edition to complement their (quite likely) out of stock Collector’s Edition. While it won’t come with anything fancy like a figure, it does feature the full-game, a soundtrack featuring songs hand-picked by the development team and a metalcase to store both in.
A review on The Otaku’s Study is planned for release in the next couple of days.
