While it has taken them the greater part of a month to get the attendance numbers finalized, the team behind this years SMASH! Sydney Manga and Anime Show have confirmed that the 2014 event reached a new record for them. Over the two day event (Between August 9th and 10th), more than 13,000 attendees walked through the doors at the Rosehill Gardens.

This was their first two-day event at the new venue, SMASH! President Ray Elinon has been “surprisingly overwhelmed by the general positive feedback”, which will hopefully lead to bigger and ambitious projects in 2015. Elinon continues: “SMASH! 2014 has been a huge year for us, and it is good to see that our fans still love what SMASH! has got to offer. We would like to thank everyone who has continued to support SMASH! over the years. SMASH! 2014 would not have been successful without our loyal convention-goers, volunteers, exhibitors, and of course, our main special guests: animation director Toshihiro Kawamoto, cosplayer Reika, and voice-actress Kotono Mitsuishi.”

With this year being deemed a success, they hope to bring everyone a superior experience in 2015.
