Fans of the PlayStation 2 Drakengard series or even the PS3 / Xbox360 title Nier have much to be excited about this month, with Square Enix set to release Drakengard 3 on May 20th, 2014 exclusively on the PlayStation 3. This will be the first time in seven to eight years that a direct numbered instalment in the Drakengard video game series has been released internationally or within Japan.

One of the things that stood out to me about Nier, a spin-off title in the Drakengard franchise, was its stellar soundtrack. It turns out that Square Enix seems to agree with them keeping on Keiichi Okabe to serve as Sound Director for Drakengard 3. In the latest developer diary for the game, Mr. Okabe discusses the evolution and inspiration of the games soundtrack, his personal involvement with the game and his thoughts on the role of music.
