It seems like Nintendo’s challenge-oriented bite-sized collection of NES games, NES Collection, has gone down well enough to warrant the publisher confirming a sequel. Like its predecessor, NES Remix 2, is a digital-exclusive mash-up of classic Nintendo Entertainment System games that are based around previously existing game features or newly modified / added elements produced exclusively for this release.
Inspired by the Nintendo World Championship event which took place during 1990 in the United States, a brand new championship mode will be included with this instalment, allowing players to competitively take on a series of three successive score-based challenges in order to achieve one final cumulative score. These scores can then be compared against friends or posted for the entire world to see on Miiverse.
The three games included in this mode are Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3 and Dr. Mario. However you will be required to own the very first collection to take advantage of this mode.
NES Remix is set for release exclusively on the Wii U from April 25th, 2014. Nintendo will directly serve as publisher, however due to it only being a small title will only be available via the Nintendo eShop.
