Sony Computer Entertainment Australia have extended the multimedia / television application range on the PlayStation 3 by adding Foxtel Play to the consoles entertainment service portfolio – joining a small range of previous apps such as ABC iView and Youtube.
Just in time for the April 7th première of Game of Thrones Season 4, they hope that the addition of Foxtel to the console means that the approx 2 million Australians that own a PS3 can use their own console to subscribe to Foxtel Play’s line-up of programming. The service can be downloaded using a PlayStation Network account, however will require a regular subscription fee with monthly and “pay-as-you-go” price offerings.
A comparable PlayStation 4 app is in the works.

We’re thrilled to continue our drive to expand availability of Foxtel Play for Australian subscribers. With the addition of PS3, that expansion just got a massive boost for the 2 million Australians already enjoying great digital experiences on their PlayStation 3 consoles. Today that experience gets even better.
