——————–

In your press release it was said that “Idea Factory International will focus on providing general and overall information regarding video games, animation and social apps to Idea Factory fans worldwide”. Does this mean that you wouldn’t consider directly publishing any of your titles internationally if there was a high demand for them?

We are always open to any opportunity, but if we were to release a title internationally, it would have to be something smaller in scale and one of our more niche titles.

——————–

Above is what Idea Factory International CEO Haru Akenaga stated back in an exclusive interview with The Otaku’s Study back in mid-November 2013. In just these few short months it has led the newly formed division of Idea Factory to decide that Monster Monpiece is in high enough demand with niche gamers internationally and worthy of an English localization / release. Idea Factory International have today confirmed that the PlayStation Vita title will be released exclusively on the PlayStation Vita from an unspecified date in “Spring 2014” through the PlayStation Store.

Monster Monpiece is a card battle strategy game, which to separate itself from mobile card game comes with light RPG elements with the overall aim to provide a “simple yet strategic card battle system with a charming story”. More information on the storyline and its main characters can be checked out at the bottom of this post.

While more information is set to be unveiled weekly via the Idea Factory International website, we do know that the international release will support both Ad Hoc and Network gameplay modes, allowing you to play by yourself or against friends.

There will be more than 100 Monster Girl card units from over 50 illustrators included in this release to be added to your collection. However it won’t be a direct port of the Japanese release with some cards having to be removed from both North American and PAL releases due to the “sexual nature” of the cards. The following Monster Girls that have had their images limited to that of their Level 1, 2 and 3 evolution forms are: Vampire, Kraken, Goblin, Cockatrice, Kobold, Skeleton, Titania, Bahamut, Fia, Brownie, Pegasus, Mandragora, Mau Sibau, Rafflesia, Death Scorpion, Phantom, and Tengu.

More information will be released on this game tomorrow, currently hitting the 3AM mark and I am buggered!

Storyline

God’s hammer struck twice, punishing the world of Yafaniel below…

In the world of Yafaniel, humans and an unusual species called “monster girls” coexist. May Esperio, an Academy student from Kunaguva, is training hard to become a “master” of monster girls with her best friends, Elza and Karen. However, after an encounter with a mysterious stranger, Elza became “Lost”, a victim of a strange affliction that plagues both humans and monster girls. Elza and the monster girls in her
service have begun stealing the Magus Quartzes that are held in each of Yafaniel’s major cities.

May decides to travel the world pursuing Elza in an attempt to cure her. However, May knows that if she fails to save Elza, the whole world may be destroyed!

Character Profiles

May Fia Karen Elza

May

May is a student at an academy where she studies to become a master of Monster Girls. Her mother was a great Master, and May looks up to her. May is kind and cares for her friends deeply, though she is quite shy. She strives to follow through on her promises, no matter the obstacles or cost. Because of this, people can find her to be stubborn at times. Along with her friends Karen and Fia, she travels around Yafaniel in pursuit of her friend Elza, who has become “Lost”.

Fia

Fia is a Fenrir-type Monster Girl, and May’s partner in combat. She speaks her mind freely, which causes many to view her as being rough around the edges. She prides herself on her strength and is quite energetic. She hates to lie, so she always keeps her word. Most of the time, Monster Girls stay sealed within their cards, but Fia is different. She prefers to stay outside of her card while she is traveling with May and Karen.

Karen

She is close friends with May and Elza, and she dreams of becoming a Monster Girl researcher. Her knowledge of Monster Girls is second to none, as evidenced by her top marks on the academy’s entrance exam. Karen acts like a prim and proper girl, but that demeanor hides the fact that she’s quite timid. She wishes to be a little bit more like her comparatively fiery friends, May and Elza.

Elza

Elza is May and Karen’s reliable best friend. She can handle pretty much anything that is thrown at her, and she always goes the extra mile to make sure things go smoothly. Elza was studying at the same academy as May and Karen in the hopes of becoming a master, but along the way she was cursed with a condition known only as “Lost”. Since becoming Lost, she has been on a rampage across all Yafaniel ,stealing Magus Quartzes from its major cities.
