Square Enix seems to want the attention of those who recently purchased the iPad Air, with their announcement that Bloodmasque is now available as a free download on the iOS App Store for the next few days. Until the 7th December 2013, the vampire hunting action-RPG will be available for everybody with a supported device (iPhone 4S and later, iPod touch generation 5 or later, iPad 2 or later.) to download until that day.
In addition, the updated version of the game will also include a new “Hunter Rankings” feature, allowing players to compete with others every weekend in special quests. The high-scoring players on each weekend will receive a special in-game item as a prize.
Set in an alternate vision of 19th century Paris, Bloodmasque pits players against a vampire-controlled society. Powered by Unreal Technology, Bloodmasque allows hunters to use the built-in camera of their iOS device to scan their face into the game and appear as the main character. Photos are then stylized to naturally fit the aesthetics of the game.
