While it may give a first impression of being an installment in the Way of the Samurai franchise, the above trailer is actually for the next installment in the Yakuza / Ryu Ga Gotoku franchise set for release in Japan on the 22nd February 2014 as a launch title for the Playstation 4 and potentially never internationally given the way things are going.
Set in the Meiji Era within Japan, the release features many familiar faces in the Yakuza franchise in different character roles appropriate to the setting. The trailer confirms the appearance of Haruka who goes by the name Haru and will appear in the games “Another Life” mode (What seems to be Ishin’s equivalent of the free-play mode). They also afford us a look at some of the battles that will take place, confirm the return of karaoke and promote some of the other side games that no Yakuza game would be right without.
