While Atelier Totori and Meruru, the second and third parts of the Alchemists of Arland trilogy saw “Plus” edition Playstation Vita ports over the last couple of years, developer GUST has decided to treat Atelier Rorona differently by giving it the remake treatment and bringing it to life not only on the PS Vita but also once again on the Playstation 3.
This release is set to feature a number of additions including newly playable characters. It was earlier announced that Totori and Meruru would be breaking the space time continuum in order to appear in an extra chapter, two previously non-playable characters will be boosted up to playable character. One of these is Esty Dee, the receptionist for the Arland Kingdom’s palace who despite missing in Atelier Totori served a playable role in Atelier Meruru. The second character is Astrid Zexis, Rorona’s teacher who is also renown as the greatest alchemist in all of Arland. This will be her first time as a playable character in any of the Atelier games.
Gust have today shared a batch of screenshots for the game, highlighting the two newly playable characters mentioned above, returning character Gio, the new gardening system to obtain additional alchemic materials and a general look at the improved battle system.
