You may recall my earlier post on Studio Bento and their crowdfunding campaign to release an indie film by the name of “Gameloading: Rise of the Indies“, which as the title suggests is about the rise of the indie game market which has seen more and more creative titles released on the market (An example being the third installment in Sam’s Quest for Something Different “Element4l).

Their Kickstarter campaign has so far been going at a steady pace and with 14 days to go they have reached $23,583 out of their total goal of $50,000. Due to the limitations of Kickstarter if they want to see any of the money they will need to reach that target by the 14th August. This is good for us however as we get a closer look at what is to be included in the release. StudioBento have today released video interviews with prominent game developers Chris Avellone, and Luke Muscat.

Chris Avellone // Obsidian Entertainment

I feel the indie scene is where creators can really create… I have often felt that I would much rather design a game for free and have some other job, just because it would allow me freedom of expression. That´s what I feel about the indie scene, and the titles that come out there. You see a lot more innovative concepts, because they are allowed to take risks.

Luke Muscat // Half Brick

If you´re an indie developer, you could probably not imagine yourself doing anything other than making games. That´s definitely how a lot of people at Half Brick are. The one piece of advice I can give (to young developers) is make games, make lots and lots of games. With every game you make you learn something.
