With a new logo in tow (The fortunately ditched the original rather ugly one), Natsume attended last weeks Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) to show off their brand new IP Hometown Story which is currently in development by ToyBox Inc and in being headed up by the father of the Harvest Moon franchise himself – Yasuhiro Wada.
During the event we were treated to a brand new trailer for the game which showcased various snippets of events from the game. However we didn’t receive anything in the form of still screenshots until now. These screenshots highlight a wealth of features in the game and complements the original trailer well. Starting from the main menu, we are directed through the process of creating your own male or female character all the way to setting up your shop and harvesting / obtaining goods to sell.
Considering the creator of this game, you can expect a number of elements to be carried over from the Harvest Moon series such as the all-ages friendly approach, intereactions and relationships with the characters and the overall efforts you must go to collect goods to keep your business afloat. However unlike Harvest Moon which generally had you look after a farm – Hometown Story has you running a shop – making it some sort of hybrid between Harvest Moon and the PC game Recettear: An Item Shops Tale where you are also tasked with running a shop with goods you source from various means.
If you would like to check out more coverage on this game, don’t forget to check out both the E3 Trailer (HERE) and the archives of Hometown Story HERE.
Hometown Story is set for release later this year on the Nintendo 3DS AND iOS platforms. PAL region distribution will be handled by Rising Star Games while North American publishing will of course be handled by Natsume.
