Tecmo Koei Europe alongside Mindscape have recently announced special bonus goodies that gamers can get their hands on by pre-ordering the title. By pre-ordering at either EB Games or JB Hi-fi stores, fans will receive a limited edition smartphone pouch which is otherwise unavailable outside of Japan – in one of four designs. On top of that, fans will also get their hands on free DLC packs featuring Zhou Yu, Lu Xun, Zhang Fei and Guan Yu outfits from Dynasty Warriors 1 and Zhao Yun and Sun Shangxiang outfits from Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Given I purchased my copy of Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires from EB Games and still waiting for my pre-order bonuses even today…. I am left a bit skeptical about having these arrive – but who knows… might just have been my bad luck.

In addition to this announcement (and this won’t be a surprise to those of you whom read my Japanese coverage of the game), the company have confirmed three new additions to the Jin Kingdom – Zhang Chunhua, Wen Yang and Jia Chong. Character profiles for all three characters are listed below:

Zhang Chunhua

A cultured, well-educated and wise woman and mother to two fierce warriors, Sima Shi and Sima Zhao, Zhang Chunhua is known for always facing life with a smile as well as for her fierce personality.

Wen Yang

Wen Yang is a tall, young warrior, very calm and exceedingly brave, who takes up arms to assist his father. He charges into battle head on and refuses to get side-tracked, a trait that can be both helpful (as he ignores tricks and traps) and dangerous.

Jia Chong

The final addition to Jin is the cold, calculative strategist, Jia Chong; a fearless man of great political skill, dedicated to abolish the old order and establish a man of ability to the emperor’s throne.

As with all the other installments in the Dynasty Warriors franchise (For which there are a considerable number), DW8 follows the stories of the Wei, Wu, Shu and Jin kingdoms through the actions of historical military and political figures of the time as they fight to gain control over the The Kingdoms of China. They claim the emphasis on this title is in the stages, where the epic battles of the Three Kingdoms era takes place, and delivers more than 40 new stages ranging from verdant plains and desolate wastelands to huge castles and sharp ravines.

Take a peek at some of the recently released screenshots below (Once again, some of these may be familiar to those whom read my coverage for the Japanese edition of the game):
