Last year was easily the year for the Persona series in North America. Not only did they see the launch of Persona 4 Golden (My Game of the Year 2012) released on store shelves for the Playstation Vita but also the anime adaptation released in English by Sentai Filmworks and the spin-off fighting title Persona 4 Arena on the Playstation 3 and XBox360.
It was recently announced via the official Playstation Blog that from today, Persona 4 Arena will be available as a digital download via the North American Playstation Store. The game, which takes place to months after the events of Persona 4 sees the Investigation Team reunite along with select characters from Persona 3 against a threat which sees the Midnight Channel once again become active…. only with all the main characters appearing on the screen and in a fighting environment. Developed by the team at Arc System Works in collaboration, from what I hear the game is very enjoyable.
If you reside in North America…. that is good news. For those of us in PAL regions, it is something like adding salt to wounds.
Of course, the key word is “From what I hear“, as Persona 4 Arena is infamously one of the only region locked games for the Playstation 3, meaning that fans from PAL regions who are still waiting for a physical release are unable to play or train with the game – and to date have no word on WHEN it will be released. Zen United (European Publisher) are still actively working towards getting the game out to fans as soon as possible and there has been a rumored release date of the 29th March 2013 mentioned a few times…. so with any luck this will result in an actual release.
