Persona 2 was originally split up into two separate installments – Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. Originally launched in Japan during 1999, ATLUS USA decided to skip over Innocent Sin due to a number of potential issues deemed by the company, however despite missing half the content chose to release the second installment – Persona 2: Eternal Punishment which was made available in 2000 in both Japan and North America.
Both installments in recent years had received Playstation Portable ports, and more than a decade after first launching on the Playstation 1 – fans outside of Japan had the chance to get their hands on Innocent Sin. Unfortunately there was no word on Eternal Punishment receiving an English localized release on the Playstation Portable until now.
While no official confirmations have been made, a filing for Persona 2: Eternal Punishment was made for the Playstation 3 and Playstation Portable by Sony Computer Entertainment America – hinting at plans of releasing the original PS1 version as a Playstation 1 Classic rather than go through the process of re-translating the game. Expect to hear more on this in the coming days/weeks.
