So it seems like Atelier Totori Plus: The Adventurer of Arland (PS Vita) is going to be seeing an English localized release according to new classification information unveiled on the Australian Government’s classifications website.
As a fan of the Atelier series have been playing it since Atelier Iris on the Playstation 2, I am genuinely excited about this release. While Tecmo Koei have yet to formally announce this release – and I assume they will be doing it post-release of Atelier Ayesha next month… there was something I have been left raising an eyebrow about…. its classification.
Thats right, according to the current information on the Australian Classifications website it has made the jump from PG (The classification of the Playstation 3 installment) to R18+. Considering from memory the highest score a game in the series has ever earned is an M, this is a notable increase and a surprising one at that.
This allows Atelier Totori Plus entry into a small set of games such as Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge that have held the R18+ classification since coming into effect January 1st this year. The consumer advice is “References to Sexual Violence” with the game having moderate impact themes, high impact violence, mild impact language and moderate impact sex.
Not exactly the Atelier Totori I recall….
While I haven’t played the Playstation Vita port yet – I have played the original release for which my review of can be read HERE. Originally released in 2011 on the Playstation 3, Atelier Totori Plus is a Playstation Vita port of the game which features primarily the same game with a few additional features…. such as a new dungeon, costumes for the main character and a small assortment of other features. If one of these additions warranted the jump…. I suppose we will see.

Publishing of this title in Australia could possibly be handled by Mindscape – as they are behind the March release of Atelier Ayesha. No official confirmation from the company has been made yet.
