Earlier this year, Square Enix and Indies Zero released Theatrhythm Final Fantasy on the Nintendo 3DS as an exclusive title. The companies have today announced that the title is available for purchase on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) from today, following the unveiling of a teaser website a couple of days ago.
The game was originally developed to celebrate the series 25th Anniversary – and was essentially a rhythm game compiling songs from all the major numbered installments in the series from I to XIII. The rhythm gameplay was undertaken by adorably redesigned heroes from the catalogue of Final Fantasy titles as they set out on an adventure against memorable monsters and villians with the power of rhythmic tap and a musical score up their sleeves.
Brand new to the iOS version is the Quest Medley mode, where you’ll take on a range of challenges based on the songs in your collection. Each time you play, you’ll find yourself facing different songs, different levels of difficulties, and different rewards for completion. The iOS version also gives players the ability to craft their own musical creations in the Compose Scores mode, which can then be shared with the world via Twitter.
The game is initially free to download and comes with 2 musical scores and 13 characters to get started with. You can then choose to purchase over 100 Final Fantasy songs for 99 cents each and characters for $1.99 each. Basic song bundles of four are also available for $2.99.
