While I never actually owned a game in the Sonic franchise until the Gamecube release of Sonic Adventure 2 – for a number of gamers Sonic the Hedgehog would have been an face that welcomed them to the world of gaming. With a long history, Udon Entertainment intend on publishing an English release of ‘The History of Sonic the Hedgehog’.
Through their company blog it was announced that this book, which is filled with artwork, information and more has an approximate release date of early-December and will hopefully in fans hands before Christmas. This was a delay from the original release date which from memory was September.
The reason given for this delay comes down to quality. A few months back they put up some preview pages alongside their initial announcement and some fans reported the writing was less than fantastic. Therefore… they have decided to re-write all 300 pages of the English translation.
UDON Associate Editor (and Sonic and Mega Man super-fan) Ash Paulsen has gone through the book from start to finish and poured an immense amount of work into it, his biggest assignment ever for UDON! That whole process took him a little over a month, and then Ash’s re-write had to be approved by the good folks at SEGA. So a book that we had at the printers, and that we had scheduled for the end of September, is now coming out (fingers crossed) at the beginning of December.
