Last year saw the release of Disgaea: Netherworld Unbound, an android app by Nippon Ichi Software which would allow players to bring the Disgaea Item World experience with them wherever they went. Unfortunately while NIS America had intended to release it internationally, they dropped their plans in July this year due to technical reasons (See: NIS America Cancel Release of Disgaea on Android).
Turns out that in Japan, the GREE service is seeing the release of another mobile game under the title of Disgaea Makai Collection – developed by Dione Entertainment. This game allows players to collect cards sporting character designs from the long-running Playstation series and use them to fight monsters.
The game is now available for select feature phones, with a smartphone release planned for the near future. NIS America have yet to comment if they will make a second attempt at leasing a Disgaea mobile game to the international market.
